Ambition School Leadership’s Future Leaders is a two-year leadership development programme for Deputy (and Assistant in certain schools).
Heads who share our commitment to eradicating educational disadvantage, and have the talent and commitment to become headteachers of schools in challenging contexts within three years. Participants can gain NPQH through this programme.
Leaders who have completed the programme have seen substantial improvements in outcomes for the children they serve. In Areas 5 and 6, 85% of schools led by a Future Leader for two or more years have Progress 8 results above their Local Authority average.
Over the two years, the Future Leaders programme includes:
- Intensive leadership development training including 3 whole-cohort weekends and 3 one-day learning events
- 6-day summer residential event in year one and a 4-day summer residential event in year two delivered by expert facilitators
- 12 coaching sessions from our pool of experienced headteachers and executive coaches
- Visits to exemplary schools across England
Applications are open now for the next cohort starting in July 2019. Those who apply before Christmas will have the chance to access a Garfield Weston subsidised place at £500 per person per year; the normal contribution from schools is £1,500 per person per year. The majority of costs are covered by the DfE.
Ambition and the Institute for Teaching also have funded programmes available for middle leaders, careers leaders, and governors, and offer support to educators at all levels.
